Dell Inspiron E1505 Vga Drivers For Mac

I have just purchased SSL and am narrowing down my decisions for what laptop to buy. I spent like 30 mins on the phone with the Dell guy today about the Dell Inspiron E1505.

It comes with a 1.66ghz Intel Core Duo Processor and 1 gig of RAM. Does anyone know how this will work with SSL? Is a lower level of gigaherz with Core Duo better than say a higher level of gigaherz with a Celeron, Pentium M, Athlon, Turion processor? Anyone familiar with this laptop in general? Here is the link to the laptop.

I know that I saw some mac users that have this processor having problems with SSL. Any help with this would be great. I don't want to get the wrong laptop!

So far so good with the Dell E1505. The dual core processor seems to be working great, although I don't know much about computers. I haven't brought it out on a gig with me yet but I'm still trying to warm up to SSL before I do. From messing with it on the E1505 at my apartment, I've been able to put it at the highest screen refresh and the best audio cache and it still works like a charm. DJ Mike, you said 'hmmmmm dual core' was that because you're slightly suspicious of how they work with SSL?

I'm not a computer guy, so I don't know what's what, but any input would be greatly appreciated. I just hope I got the right type of laptop for this. The only problem that I noticed was the first time I tried SSL with the laptop, I was having problems with threshold setting, and hearing static and feedback noises even with threshold set to the highest. I didn't know if that was sometihng with my laptop, or just a fluke or perhaps the mp3's I was using.

Hasn't happened again though (knock on wood). Anyone else out there with E1505 or dual cores? Anyone else had this threshold problem?

Thanks in advance. Djfrenzy thanks for the response.

Yeah, rca connections always piss me off too. The specs on the dell is 100gb hard drive, 1gb ram, 1.66ghz t2300 dual core drive and dvd/cd burner. Got the whole thing all said and done, with the upgraded laptop screen for $903 at dell with a 300 off coupon and a couple free upgrades. The thing is nice although i haven't run it long distance with scratchlive yet.

Considering attaching an external to it. Though i don't know if that's a great idea or not.

Dell Inspiron E1505 Review

I may post this as a separate entry, but i tested out what my cpu usage was when scratchlive was the only program running. It was about 10-12% of cpu usage on the medium audio cache. And on the highest audio cache it was about 22-24% cpu usage. Does this sound right?

Is up to 24% cpu usage good or bad do you think? Thanks in advance. Well, to be honest, for safety's sake, i put it at the halfway point (10 i believe?) to kind of condition myself right from the start of getting ssl. I figured this way, even if there was a tiny bit of latency (which i can't detect whatsoever), i would be used to it within hours or days and alyways be able to play it safe.

As far as I can tell, i've never had even 1 usb dropout (knock on wood!) (although I'll be honest, I'm not sure what one sounds like or how I could tell if I get one). I did mess with it on the 60times/second screen refresh and 0 buffer and it was fine, but not for long long periods so I'm not completely sure.
